NEWS SAVE THE BILL OF RIGHTS! iWS has developed an activity for the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia centered around the Bill of Rights. Created for a target audience of 5th to 8th graders, the activity combines fun with a look at what the Bill of Rights means in the world they see around them. (Flash 5 or above is required) AUTRY MUSEUM OF WESTERN HERITAGE i-Wonder Studios is working with the Autry Museum of Western Heritage on the development of their new Web site. The phased process begins with a re-design, which will launch in December 2002. Subsequent phases will extend functionality and content to reflect the depth and richness of the museum's collections and programs. 2003 MUSEUMS AND THE WEB CONFERENCE iWS president Wendy Levy is co-authoring two papers for the Museums and the Web 2003 conference in March. One addresses the organizational strategies for developing and managing a large, world-class museum Web site with the constraints of a less than large budget, using the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia as a case study. The other describes a methodological and practical approach to developing an online supplement to an offline education outreach program, with the Verizon Reading Edge program at the Children's Museum of Los Angeles as a model. iWS WINS EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION RESOURCES AWARD i-Wonder Studios has been awarded the Teacher Education Commitment to Education Excellence Award for the Web site of the Children's Museum of Los Angeles. The award is given to sites that have made a major commitment to education through the Internet medium. The Australia-based Teacher Education/The Next Step (http://www.teachers.ash.org.au/teachereduc/indexTNS.html) focuses on information related to the theories and methodologies of teaching, and to the practical applications of those theories. iWS PRESIDENT TO SPEAK AT INTERNATIONAL WEB CONFERENCE Wendy Levy, President of i-Wonder Studios, will be presenting a paper in Boston on April 19th at the International Museums and the Web conference. The published paper is also available online here. Co-written by Sally Thompson (CEO, Children's Museum of Los Angeles) and Candace Barrett (Executive Director, Children's Museum of Los Angeles), the subject is the Web site of the Children's Museum of Los Angeles as a case study to present a "systematic, comprehensive and cohesive process for managing the design and development process within the context of a non-profit organization with multi-faceted and shifting priorities." NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER CHOOSES iWS i-Wonder Studios has been chosen over several nationally recognized Web development companies to guide the development of a new Web site for the National Constitution Center (NCC) in Philadelphia. The NCC was established by Congress through the Constitution Heritage Act of 1988, "as an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization...to increase awareness and understanding of the US Constitution's relevance to our daily lives." The center broke ground Constitution Day September 17, 2000 and will open July 4, 2003, while the new Web site is scheduled to launch on September 17, 2002. “WEBAWARD” PRESENTED TO i-WONDER STUDIOS The Web Marketing Association has presented i-Wonder Studios with an "Outstanding Web Site" Webaward (http://www.webaward.org) for the Children's Museum of Los Angeles site (http://www.childrensmuseumla.org) in the 2001 competition. CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF LA SITE WINS MULTIPLE AWARDS The site for the Children’s Museum of Los Angeles received the Golden Web Award from the International Association of Webmasters and Designers, honoring the “web design, originality and content” helping it to achieve “levels of excellence deserving of recognition.” The site has also been awarded the EduNET, Busy Educator, and Eagle ONE awards. BREAKTHROUGH CONTENT DEVELOPED FOR EASTERN MOUNTAIN SPORTS i-Wonder Studios has developed, through a proprietary process, digital content for Eastern Mountain Sports for use in an in-store hard drive delivery system projected onto 6' by 8' screens.
